Microsoft Canada Security Bulletin (Dec. 17, 2008)
-
This
security update resolves a publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet
Explorer. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user
views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. Users whose
accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be
less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.
The security update addresses the vulnerability by modifying the way
Internet Explorer validates data binding parameters and handles the
error resulting in the exploitable condition.
This
security update also addresses the vulnerability first described in Microsoft
Security Advisory 961051.
Recommendations
Microsoft
recommends customers prepare their systems and networks to apply this
security update immediately, to help ensure that their computers are
protected from attempted criminal attacks. Please visit http://www.microsoft.com/protect

When
you buy any new software, please read the requirements to run the
software. Notice the operating system needed, the amount of ram, & the
amount of hard drive space & lastly but not least, the cpu speed.

Vista; ready or
not.
-
Even though it is much more stabler, the biggest
problem, is that the older equipment & software may not work on the
new operating system. The other problem that people complain
about, is that it is a whole new design & thus a whole new learning
curb. What people don't know, is that Vista like XP can be run in the
Windows classic mode which makes it far less of a change to handle.

Norton Internet Security 2004
& 2008 compatibility problems on older computers
-
These programs & other
programs that are made for XP are wanting you to register them like XP and are
having difficulty on none XP systems. Use Norton IS 2003 or older on
computers that are AMD 1800+ or less, & Intel P4 2 gig or less. The
other problem is that the newer the version, the more you need to
increase the ram. Then the question is whether your older computer
can add enough.

display the
multiple color selection pallet.
- Lotus Screen Cam may not work properly with Win XP

Answer came in from Don Smith from "The ARC of Dallas" with the
following help for the second problem. Thanks Don.

All you have to do is right click on the desktop,
choose properties, Appearance, then EFFECTS, then DISABLE the first one:
"Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips."
That fixed my 123V5 pulldown color chart problem
immediately.
